2021 British ADBA National Conference will be held

The 2021 UK Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) National Conference will take place on 14thDecember, focusing on how anaerobic digestion (AD) is able to deliver climate, gas, and carbon dioxide (CO2) security.


As the first physical event hosted by the trade body in two years, the conference will open with a keynote speech given by Lord Callanan, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Business, Energy and Corporate Responsibility) who will provide an update on the Green Gas Support Scheme.


Callanan will also detail the Government’s biomass policy in addition to how it plans to explore the role of AD in the UK’s Net Zero strategy.


The conference aims to build upon the momentum gained during COP26 to demonstrate how AD can contribute to greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction, in addition to meeting 25% of the UK’s domestic gas demand and over 100% of the UK’s CO2 demand.



Stating that ‘there’s no net zero without biogas’, Charlotte Morton, Chief Executive, ADBA, said, “What makes this year’s ADBA National Conference so pivotal is that we’ll emphasise how AD can deliver on all of these (climate, gas and CO2 security), especially the Global Methane Pledge, and address the barriers to the industry’s growth that MUST be lifted if we are to fulfil its potential.”


Calling AD a ready-to-use, mature technology, Morton added that AD can make a huge contribution towards the UK’s transition away from fossil fuels.


The event will also cover the outcome of the COP26 summit and discussions will take place around the potential for AD to deliver 25% of the UK’s Global Methane Pledge.
