Two major gas players are to supply China with liquefied natural gas (LNG) under separate signed agreements.

Energy giant PETRONAS will deliver three carbon neutral LNG cargoes from its Bintulu LNG complex, Indonesia.

Chinese company Shenergy will receive the deliveries in Shanghai between October 2021 and March 2022.

“PETRONAS is proud to elevate our 15-year partnership with Shenergy that now includes the supply of carbon neutral LNG,” said Shamsairi Ibrahim, Vice President of LNG Marketing & Trading, PETRONAS.

In addition, a shipment of LNG is to be delivered to a subsidiary of the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) supplied by Qatar Petroleum (QP) over 15 years.

The deal will see 3.5 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) of LNG delivered during the agreement period.

Commenting on the deal, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO, QP, said, “We are pleased to further build upon our strong relationship with CNOOC with the singing of this new long-term LNG supply agreement.”

Since August (2021) a total of 715 LNG cargoes have been supplied to China by Qatar.
