Nitrogen is a colorless and odorless gas under normal conditions and is usually non-toxic. Nitrogen accounts for 78.12% (volume fraction) of the total air. The gas density under standard conditions is 1.25g/L. Nitrogen is difficult to dissolve in water. Under normal temperature and pressure, only 0.02 volume of nitrogen can be dissolved in 1 volume of water. Nitrogen is a gas that is difficult to liquefy. Nitrogen will liquefy into a colorless liquid at low temperatures, and when the temperature is further reduced, a white crystalline solid will be formed. In production, black steel cylinders are usually used to hold nitrogen.

High-purity nitrogen use

High-purity nitrogen is often used as a protective gas. Foods such as grains, canned foods, and fruits are also commonly used as protective gas to prevent food from decay. Filling the granary with nitrogen can prevent the grain from rotten, sprouting and long-term storage. In medicine, liquid nitrogen is often used as a refrigerant, and operations are performed under cryoanaesthesia. As a refrigerant, it is often used in hospitals for removing spots, bags, beans, etc., that is, freezing off spots, bags, beans, etc., but it is prone to scars, so it is not recommended. In high-tech fields, liquid nitrogen is commonly used to create low-temperature environments. For example, some superconducting materials obtain superconducting properties at low temperatures after being treated with ultrapure nitrogen.

    1. Taking advantage of its "lonely character" feature, we fill it in the light bulb, which can prevent the oxidation of the tungsten filament and slow down the volatilization speed of the tungsten filament, and extend the life of the bulb.

    2. Making nitrogen fertilizer

    3. Synthetic dyes

    4. Explosives made of ultra-pure nitrogen can be used as leak detectors for high vacuum devices, nuclear reactors, spacecraft, etc., and shielding gas for welding metals such as magnesium, zirconium, aluminum, and titanium.

    5. Ultra-pure nitrogen, high-purity nitrogen can also be used to replace inert gas as a shielding gas when welding metal.
